On the evening of 11 April 2026 we received the devastating news that our amazing brother Peter had died whilst working away on an oil rig in the North Sea. It wasn’t an accident or major incident that took him but, as we later discovered, a previously undiagnosed cardiac enlargement.

The irony of his “cardiac enlargement” isn’t lost on us. Pete was a big man with a massive heart who is loved by many, many people. He was a sportsman and gentleman in every sense of those words. His wicked sense of humour, his many understated acts if kindness, his ability to retain that quiet humility and dignity are just a few of the traits that are part of the legacy he leaves behind. That is why we, his family, feel that he would approve of our choice to support the AEDd❤️nate in their mission to provide timely access to a defibrilator to as many people as possible in the hope that it will make a difference and lives will be saved.

Pete hadn’t been ill and had looked after his health and diet, not smoked or drank alcohol in over 20 years yet the unimaginable had happened. As a family we are comforted in the knowledge that the medics got to Pete within minutes of him collapsing, had all the correct kit, including a defibrilator, to try and save him but sadly for us it was his time to go – hopefully the outcome for others will be different ❤️
