Get Together After Serving CIC Defibrillator Fundraising Campaign
Get Together After Serving CIC is partnering with AEDdonate to raise funds for one mobile defibrillator. This life-saving device will be accessible to anyone in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in the community group.
Get Together After Serving CIC
Get Together After Serving (GTAS) CIC was founded by our director, Adam, who could not stand by and watch veterans, vulnerable young people, and families in the community struggle without meaningful support. Built from his own lived experience, and shaped by the discipline, values, and unwavering sense of duty instilled through military service, GTAS was created on the belief that a community should be a lifeline when other systems fall short. Adam recognised a significant gap in the support available to veterans as they transitioned back into civilian life, with too many facing the challenges of reintegration alone while struggling with housing, financial hardship, employment, and their mental wellbeing. Determined that no veteran should ever feel forgotten or left behind, he established GTAS to provide practical, person-centred support that makes a real difference.
Why a Defibrillator at Friend In Need is So Important
Each year in the UK, over 30,000 people suffer a sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital. Survival rates are low, with fewer than 1 in 10 people surviving.
In a sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts. Without immediate CPR and defibrillation, survival chances decrease by around 10% per minute. Early CPR and access to a defibrillator can significantly improve survival chances.
However, public access defibrillators are used in only around 9% of cases, highlighting the urgent need to make these life-saving devices more accessible in our communities.
