Currock Community Centre is fundraising for a community-access defibrillator to be installed at the centre for the benefit of both users of the facility and the wider local community.
As a busy community hub serving people of all ages through clubs, activities, events and support services, we believe it is important to provide access to lifesaving equipment that could make a critical difference during a medical emergency.
Every minute matters when someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest. Having a defibrillator available at the community centre could help save a life by providing immediate assistance before emergency services arrive.
Currock Community Centre plays an important role within the local area, welcoming residents, families, community groups and visitors throughout the year. By installing a defibrillator, we hope to create a safer environment for everyone who uses the centre and the surrounding community.
With the support of AEDdonate, we are hoping to raise funds for the defibrillator and associated equipment to ensure it is available should it ever be needed in an emergency.
Any donation, fundraising support or share of this campaign will help us take one step closer to making Currock a safer community for everyone.
Every year in the United Kingdom, more than 30,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Sadly, fewer than one in ten survive.
When a cardiac arrest occurs, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by around 10 per cent. Early intervention, including CPR and the use of a defibrillator, can dramatically increase survival rates.
Despite this, defibrillators are still used in only a small percentage of cardiac arrest cases, highlighting the need for more devices to be available within our communities.
Once installed, the defibrillator will be registered with the local ambulance service and made available for emergency use.
The device does not replace emergency medical care. Instead, it provides immediate support while an ambulance is on its way. The sooner a defibrillator can be used, the greater the chance of survival.
By installing a defibrillator at Currock Community Centre, we can help provide reassurance and potentially lifesaving support to local residents, visitors and those attending activities and events at the centre.
