Chanley Road Shop, Stafford Defibrillator Campaign

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) remains one of the leading causes of death in the UK, claiming approximately 30,000 lives each year. Unlike a heart attack, SCA occurs when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions, causing the heart to stop beating effectively. When this happens, the victim loses consciousness, and without intervention, brain damage begins to occur within minutes.

However, the survival rate of SCA is alarmingly low—about 10%—if defibrillation is not administered quickly. On the other hand, if a defibrillator is used within the first 3-5 minutes of collapse, the chance of survival increases dramatically to over 70%. This stark contrast highlights the critical need for accessible defibs in every neighbourhood.

I am hoping the local community and all who use Charnley Park (football teams, dog walkers and families using the park) will join me to raise enough money to install a Defibrillator at the Chanley Road shop.
