Support Thomas Alleyne’s High School on Restart a Heart Day
On Friday 16th October, students at Thomas Alleyne’s High School will be supporting Restart a Heart Day by making a suggested donation of £2 to help save lives across our community.
This special fundraising event will support two important causes. Half of all funds raised will go towards purchasing a new defibrillator for Thomas Alleyne’s High School, helping to ensure that life-saving equipment is readily available on site. The remaining half will be donated to AEDdonate’s Community Fund, helping to provide and maintain public access defibrillators in communities that need them most.
Every year in the UK, more than 30,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Sadly, fewer than 1 in 10 people survive. When a cardiac arrest occurs, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by around 10%.
Having quick access to a defibrillator, alongside immediate CPR, can dramatically improve a person’s chances of survival. Despite this, public access defibrillators are currently used in only a small percentage of cardiac arrest incidents, highlighting the need for more readily available devices in schools, workplaces, sports clubs and local communities.
Your contribution, no matter how large or small, will help:
By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping to create a safer environment for students, staff, visitors and the wider community, while also enabling AEDdonate to continue its mission of improving access to life-saving equipment.
Thank you for supporting Restart a Heart Day and helping us make a real difference. Together, we can increase the availability of defibrillators and give more people the best possible chance of survival in a cardiac emergency.
