Newquay Rowing Club is partnering with AEDdonate to raise funds for a new heated defibrillator cabinet and a community bleed kit at Newquay Harbour. These life-saving resources will help protect rowers, fishermen, harbour workers, residents and the thousands of visitors who enjoy the harbour every year.

About Newquay Rowing Club

Newquay Rowing Club was established in 1921 and is the home of Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing. The club has 9 wooden and 3 GRP boats and a membership of over 200 rowing members who row and race from Newquay Harbour.

Throughout the summer, the club hosts three Annual Rowing County Championship events, welcoming rowing clubs from across England to compete.

The clubhouse sits at the heart of the Newquay Harbour community, where the club is proud to provide the only publicly accessible defibrillator at the harbour. Newquay Harbour is home to a busy fishing fleet and is a popular destination for families, beachgoers, swimmers and visitors enjoying the local cafés and restaurants.

Why This Campaign is So Important

Every year in the UK, more than 30,000 people suffer a sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital, with fewer than 1 in 10 surviving.

In a sudden cardiac arrest, every minute counts. Without immediate CPR and defibrillation, the chance of survival decreases by around 10% for every minute that passes. Early access to a defibrillator can make the difference between life and death.

The club’s existing defibrillator has already been used several times over the years, demonstrating just how valuable it is to the harbour community. Unfortunately, it is currently out of service because the cabinet has deteriorated and can no longer be opened safely.

This campaign will fund a new heated cabinet, ensuring the defibrillator is protected from the elements and available whenever it is needed.

Alongside the cabinet, the club is also hoping to install a community bleed kit. These kits contain specialist equipment to help control catastrophic bleeding and can provide vital first aid while waiting for the emergency services to arrive. They are increasingly being installed in public locations across the UK and could help save a life following a serious accident or traumatic injury.

Together, the defibrillator and bleed kit will provide essential emergency equipment for everyone using Newquay Harbour.

How You Can Help

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us reach our goal and ensure this life-saving equipment remains available for the local community and visitors alike.

If you’re unable to donate, you can still make a huge difference by sharing this campaign with your friends, family and local community.

Thank you for supporting Newquay Rowing Club and helping us keep Newquay Harbour a safer place for everyone.
