The Lionsgate FC new defibrillator will help support inclusive grassroots football in Solihull after Lionsgate FC won AEDdonate’s “Win a Defib” competition at the Grassroots Football Show in Birmingham.
The club provides inclusive football sessions for children aged 8–16 with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and Special Educational Needs (SEN), creating a safe and welcoming environment where every child has the opportunity to enjoy football and feel part of a team.
We were delighted to welcome Claire and her son Alfie Donnelly to our office to collect the defibrillator on behalf of the club.
Alfie is truly inspiring. Having undergone multiple complex heart surgeries at such a young age, his positivity and determination shine through in everything he does. Despite the challenges he has faced, his love of football continues to drive him forward, and he is currently on a mission to visit every football stadium in the world.
With Claire’s unwavering support behind him, Alfie continues to inspire everyone he meets.
The club has also recently received sponsorship from UB40, helping to support the fantastic work they continue to do within their community.
At AEDdonate, we believe every community deserves access to potentially life-saving equipment. Through our FIRM® approach – Fund, Install, Register, Maintain – we support communities beyond installation alone, helping ensure defibrillators remain accessible and maintained when they are needed most.
Shortly after receiving the defibrillator, the device was used during a cardiac emergency involving a member of the public.
While the gentleman sadly later passed away in hospital, the defibrillator and CPR provided at the scene meant he was able to reach hospital alive and be surrounded by his family during his final moments.
The message shared with us afterwards deeply moved our entire team and reinforced the importance of improving access to defibrillators within local communities.
We wish everyone at Lionsgate FC continued success for the future and look forward to seeing the club continue to grow both on and off the pitch. To hear more about the team please pop and give them a follow on the their facebook page
