100,000 people a year die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), 620 of these are people under the age of 35 and 270 of these deaths happen to children within schools. If defibrillation takes place within the first three minutes of a SCA, the patient’s chances of survival increase by upwards of 80%.
Next Level Fitness is a Gym based in Stone, Staffordshire. The facility is situated on Stone Business Park. In January Jamie Richards, Chief Executive of AEDdonate attended the gym and had a medical episode where he became unconscious at the gym and required the attendance of an Ambulance. Jamie is now working with the gym to raise vital funds for a community AED. Thankfully Jamie didn’t require an AED (He’s just so unfit!!…Yes Jamie is writing this). You can follow his fundraising mission on twitter by following @aeddonatejamie
You can help this community fundraising campaign by making a donation using the link on this page, by taking on a fundraising challenge or simply by doing your everyday online shopping with major retailers through the website Give As You Live and nominating AEDdonate as the charity you wish to support.
If you are interested in becoming a Community Champion yourself or are aware of any places which may benefit from having public access to a defibrillator then please contact the office on 01785 472224 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will help you manage the campaign from start to finish, helping you to help your community on its way to becoming heart safe.
