Over the past 2 months we have had two separate events where we needed a defibrillator, and didn’t have access to one. Luckily both people survived but it only takes one person!
With the amount of people we have coming and going through our pub, especially elderly people, I think we urgently need one. This would also help paramedics as the journey to the nearest 24 hours A&E is 30 minutes away.
There are 1000 deaths by cardiac arrest every single day, and 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests in the UK alone. If a AED is used on a patient, within 3-5 minutes, the chances of survival, go from 6% to 74. The nearest AED is a 2 minutes run away (and is only open 9 hours a day), by the time the patient collapses, we realise we require an AED, we figure out where the nearest one is, and return, it’s going to be about 6/7 minutes minimum, and then it’s too late.
Here at the Packet Station we care about the health of our customers which is why we are fundraising, so that you are yours are always within distance of this life saving piece of equipment!
Thanks you,
From everyone at the Packet Station Falmouth
