Well done to Glebefields primary school who have fully funded a potentially life-saving piece of equipment thanks to the support from parents and the local community. The defibrillator which is housed in an all-weather, heated, secure cabinet has been installed in a location that makes it available to the community 24 hours a day. This machine is registered with the ambulance service.
Jamie Richards CEO of AEDdonate said “it’s brilliant that the school have made their defibrillator available to the whole community and we would urge other organisations to do the same”
A sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone of any age at any time, a defibrillator is designed to be used in the vital minutes prior to the arrival of the ambulance service on scene. Defibrillators are easy to use and anyone needing one in an emergency should call 999 in the first instance to ensure an ambulance is on the way. The ambulance service will be able to direct the caller to the nearest machine.
