Two defibrillator sites have gone live thanks to the kind generosity shown in memory of much-loved friend Tom Henson. Tom died suddenly of a Cardiac Arrest playing football at the end of July 2018. Tom was a fit and healthy 23-year-old young man with no family history or no prior symptoms.

When best friend Jack Harpham contacted AEDdonate to see if we could help, it was clear to see how much Tom meant to all of those around him. Jack, along with close friends set about arranging a charity football match to raise funds to create a lasting legacy in Toms memory.

The first of the two sites are located at Shirebrook Leisure Centre, Shirebrook and the second is installed on the One Stop shop, Carr Vale. Both sites are available for use 24/7 and can be accessed by calling 999. No formal training is needed when using an AED due to the step by step instructions given by the machines.

Jack Harpham said “All I would like to say is that all Tom’s friends and family love and miss him so much. We all wanted to do something in Tom’s memory and this seemed like an excellent way to do it. This wouldn’t have been possible without AEDdonate, Tom’s charity match and donations made online, so thank you to everyone involved”

The team at AEDdonate would like to extend their deepest condolences to Toms family and friends and thank Jack for choosing to work with us. We hope the newly installed defibrillators will provide reassurance to those in the nearby area. Tom was clearly a special kind of person and his memory will live on in his local community.
