Members of the community were invited to attend a defibrillator awareness session at Uttoxeter Heath Community Centre. The popular community hub has recently undergone a fantastic refurbishment and upgraded their defibrillator cabinet whilst in the process.  The training was well received and some great questions were asked during the session.

The defibrillator is available 24/7 and registered with the ambulance service. Anyone needing the device should call 999 in the first instance and they will be given over the phone instructions to access the machine.

Whilst defibrillators are easy to use it is great that members of this group are better prepared in the event of an emergency. A defibrillator is a device that gives a high-energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest. Providing an essential and potentially life-saving, stage in the treatment of anyone suffering a cardiac arrest, defibrillators are easy to operate with step-by-step instructions for members of the public to use in an emergency.

Uttoxeter now has several defibrillators dotted around but more need to be placed in order to ensure maximum coverage. There are several ways in which this can be achieved and anyone wanting to know more should get in touch to see how we can help.

Our awareness courses are designed to demonstrate just how easy it is to use a defibrillator but also shows how to access one in an emergency. The session allows for questions and aims to offer reassurance and structure in what can be an extremely stressful time. Anyone wishing to book on a course should check out our events page on facebook or contact us on 01785 472224 to arrange one of your own.

Thank you to all who attended
