The communities of Swadlincote will better protected after the installation of a new Defibrillator on Monday 27th November at Hairs and Graces Salon.

The AED (Automated External Defibrillator) was funded by donations from Customers, Family, Friends and Swadlincote Rotary Club.

The AED has been installed on the wall outside the salon and is available 24/7 to the community. You will be able to gain access to the cabinet via calling 999 and the call taker will pass over the security code if required.

Marrianne Hair, Owner of Hairs and Graces said :  We would like to thank everyone for their donations, we hope we never have to use it, but if it saves just one life it’s well worth the effort, just a few weeks back a member of the team had to run to get another local defibrillator for someone having a medical episode in the salon – thankfully we didnt need to use it .

Jamie Richards, Chief Executive of AEDdonate; who supplied the AED said “The chance of survival after Sudden Cardiac Arrest decreases minute by minute, but if someone is shocked with a Defibrillator within 3 minutes their chance of survival increases by 70 {d30390558f9e4508be1047a3a1acb6b4e0b00fabde10b462fce3f3fe1e727ecc} ”

“Having an AED within a 1/2-mile radius from wherever you are I believe is a must.” “we would welcome further communities to get in touch to see if we can help”.
