Our Community Education Officer was delighted to see so many people at the Defibrillator Awareness Training held on the 13th of May 2019 at Hednesford Library.
Our community awareness sessions provide a great opportunity for members of the public to find out how defibrillators work, the importance of them in the pre-hospital environment and how to access them if needed. There’s a chance to get hands-on with the equipment and plenty of time for questions at the end of the session.
55 people went away feeling more confident and aware of defibrillators in their local area. Hednesford town has taken proactive action to ensure their community is better protected in the event of a cardiac arrest and its great to see so many people getting involved.
Community efforts can be massively beneficial in the event of a cardiac arrest if CPR and defibrillation are used in the first 3-5 minutes, the patients chance of survival can increase from 6% to 74 %.
