The community of Prestwick is better protected in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest after they fundraised and installed a defibrillator available 24 hours a day. The defibrillator is located on Main Street and anyone needing access should call 999 in the first instance.

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high-energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest. Providing an essential and potentially life-saving stage in the treatment of anyone suffering a Cardiac Arrest, defibrillators are easy to operate with step-by-step instructions for members of the community to use in an emergency.

Community Councillors John and Tracy Wallace would like to thank the following who helped make this possible:

South Ayrshire Council

The Prestwick Business Association

The community of Prestwick

The 65 Club

The Prestwick Rotary

Councillor Hugh Hunter

It’s been amazing to see the community and groups come together to have our first 24 hr access defibrillator installed.
