AED for Broad Oak Bowling Club, Huddersfield

12th January 2021 - Jamie Richards

Broad Oak Bowling Club in Huddersfield now have their very own defibrillator installed on the wall outside the club thanks to the Tesco Bags of Help scheme and fundraising efforts by their members.

The defibrillator is available to the community 24/7 in the event of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high-energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.

Providing an essential and potentially life-saving stage in the treatment of anyone suffering a Cardiac Arrest, defibrillators are easy to operate with step-by-step instructions for members of the public to use in an emergency.

They’re becoming an increasingly common sight in public places across the country and have already saved many lives.

Jamie Richards, Chief Executive of AEDdonate said: “It’s great to see another AED out in the community. I would urge other people in the area to contact us to see how we can help.”

Responsible for around 100,000 deaths in the UK every year, sudden cardiac arrest is one of the country’s biggest killers but quick and easy access to a defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of survival.

Well done to everyone for your great efforts in making your community “heart safe”.
